If you dodge pedestrians and potholes more than roots and rocks, Bell’s Arella urban helmet is for you.  The Arella moves away from the dial fit system and instead uses an ingenious combination of elastic and adjustable clip in system to get a custom fit.  The result?  A helmet you don’t need to readjust as you take your helmet on and off, perfect for us ladies running errands across town.  In the front and back, the Arella has integrated light mounts so you can add Blackburn’s Flea lights (sold separately) for extra safety. 21 large vents provide channeled ventilation to keep you comfy, and Bell’s Blade Plus Visor features a mirror mount and integrated rain gutters.

Today’s helmets shouldn’t induce headaches or double chins. Thanks to systems that hug the back of the head they are designed to stay put without clamping on your temples. A good helmet will sit levelly on the forehead, neither perched back or tilting over the eyes. And best of all, it’s comfortable! We recommend trying a couple different styles and brands to see which one fits your head shape. Then do a simple fit test; make all adjustments, then with the straps unbuckled shake your head. Vigorously! While it might shift slightly, the helmet should remain on your head. Today helmets come in a wide range of sizes. P.S. Helmet manufacturers recommend upgrading helmets after 5 years. Take a look for UV damage or cracks which indicate it’s time for a new one!
